The Seattle Rugby Club is a 501(c)(3) non profit sports organization, and as Washington’s oldest rugby club, has been providing opportunities for men and women 18 years and older to participate in amateur rugby practices and games since 1966. Adam Kopp is a member of Seattle Rugby Club Board of Directors, and leveraged the resources at Madak to develop new income streams in order to help the club continue to thrive.
We started by identifying the need for new income streams for Seattle Rugby. In addition to the built-in income stream of membership dues, we focused on two main channels: company sponsorship, and community based donations. We outlined the need for both a clear and concise pitch deck for local businesses to understand how they could support Seattle Rugby, as well as platforms for fans and supporters to donate money or volunteer services.
We built several assets in anticipation of fundraising efforts, including a professional and concise sponsorship pitch deck. Through the deck we communicated clear benefits to sponsorship including branding on Seattle Rugby’s gear, social media co-branding, and branding on tents during match day. We also designed the graphics for these tents, field access cards, and professional business cards for the board members.
As a result of our work with Seattle Rugby Club, they landed a 5-year Value-In-Kind partnership with the online rugby store “The Rugby Shop,” in which The Rugby Shop donates approximately $10k in merchandise per year, with an overall revenue for Seattle Rugby of $3-4k per year. We also teamed up with the rugby operations team to implement game-day donation channels and community involvement initiatives.
