At Madak, we’re always asking one simple question: How do we go from delivering great work to becoming the kind of brand people can’t stop talking about?

The answer lies in something we’ve been developing internally—something we call the referral loop. It’s more than just asking for testimonials or hoping for word-of-mouth. It’s a system for creating memorable, shareable experiences that naturally lead clients to refer you—and keep coming back themselves.

Let’s break it down.

1. First, Do the Work (and Do It Well)

This is the obvious part, but it still matters:
Meet expectations. Then exceed them.

That means clearly mapping out your scope of work, communicating often, and delivering results that make people say, “That was even better than I expected.”

A strong project foundation makes the rest of the referral loop possible.

2. Make the Experience Memorable

Whether you’re remote or in-person, your delivery shouldn’t feel transactional.
We treat every project like an experience. We show up prepared, make meetings efficient and valuable, and look for small ways to surprise and delight. That could be:

- A thank-you note

- Custom swag

- Solving something extra the client didn’t even ask for

Those little touches build loyalty. They make people remember working with you.

3. Make It Easy to Share

Clients are more likely to refer you when it’s easy to do so.

That means:

- Gathering short written testimonials right after delivery

- Asking for a quick video review if they’re up for it

- Capturing behind-the-scenes photos or progress updates for social

You don’t need to beg for referrals. Just create moments worth sharing, then give clients the tools to do it.

4. Create Repeatable Language

If someone asks your client what you do, can they explain it in one sentence?

We’ve been refining our own: “Better websites. Better business.”

Simple, repeatable one-liners make your business easy to talk about. Pair that with standout testimonials and strong visuals, and you’ve got the foundation of a referral engine.

5. Follow Up. (No, Seriously—Follow Up.)

A lot of businesses drop off after delivery. We check in before, during, and after the project. Not to chase leads—but to build trust.

Even a short follow-up message like:

“Hey, how’s the site been performing for you? Anything we can improve?”

…goes a long way in building long-term relationships.

6. Build Loyalty Through Gratitude

You don’t need fancy gifts or discounts to show appreciation. What you need is intentionality.

We do things like:

- Sending Madak-branded water bottles as thank-you gifts

- Remembering client birthdays or business anniversaries

- Logging every past client so we can reach out later with, “How have things been since we worked together?”

The goal? Stay top of mind without being salesy.

7. Ask Clearly. Ask Thoughtfully.

At some point, you have to ask:

“Would you be open to referring us to someone?”
“Want to work together again?”

It doesn’t need to be pushy—it just needs to be honest. You’ve done the work. You’ve built the relationship. Now open the door to doing more together.

Ready to Build Your Own Referral Loop?

Start by revisiting your last few projects. Ask yourself:

- Did we exceed expectations?

- Did we create any memorable moments?

- Did we ask for feedback or referrals?

- What’s one thing we could’ve done to make it more shareable?

If you’re not sure where to start, just focus on one thing: Make it easy to talk about you.
